We concentrated often on the first touch to ensure the passing was not rushed and of good quality. Players looked for the ball to be cushioned but slightly out from their feet and they were always ready for the next pass. We challenged players to occassionally receive passes with the outside of their foot.
Of course there is always a strong advantage for the team in possession so we utilized plenty of space. We always made sure the defender worked hard to win the ball. If the player receiving the ball had time and space, the first touch was to be cushioned with a gentle-touch. We tried to make the practice competitive, and awarded points to the group who kept the ball the longest and we kept the score.
